What’s Changing with Your Medical Benefits

  • Active Enrollment is required. You must complete enrollment during Open Enrollment to have Aetna medical coverage in 2027.
  • Three NEW Aetna medical plans for 2027. Choose from the PPO, High Deductible or Value Plan.
  • These are new plan designs, with changes to deductibles, copays, out-of-pocket costs, and how you pay for care.

Don’t assume your current plan works the same way in 2027. Visit the Medical Benefits page to compare the new plans, costs, and coverage before making your election.

  • NEW! Two medical plans offer a Health Savings Account (HSA). Choose the High Deductible or Value plan and elect a HSAs to help you save pre-tax dollars for eligible healthcare expenses – it’s not like a FSA, the money is yours to keep forever.
  • The BayBridge MEC Plan will not be offered in 2027. Instead, Beacon is introducing FedLogic, a new advocacy service that can help you explore health coverage options available through the Marketplace and other programs.
  • Review your plan carefully. With new plan options and costs for 2027, take time to compare your choices and select the coverage that works best for you.
  • The $100/month spousal surcharge continues if you cover a spouse who has access to medical coverage through their own employer.
  • The $100/month tobacco surcharge continues if you use nicotine products and choose to enroll in the Aetna medical plan.

Voluntary Benefits Are Moving to MetLife

Voluntary benefits provide extra financial protection when the unexpected happens. Unlike medical insurance, these plans generally pay cash benefits directly to you when you experience a covered illness, accident, or hospital stay – giving you extra money to use where you need it most.

Beginning January 1, 2027, Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital Indemnity coverage will be offered through MetLife, with enhanced coverage and more competitive rates.

If you are enrolled today in a Voluntary plan through Aetna, your election will automatically rollover to MetLife.

NEW! $50 Health Screening Benefit
Earn a $50 cash benefit for each voluntary plan you enroll in when you complete an eligible health screening like an eye exam or dental cleaning.

More protection. More value. Money paid directly to you
